My 5 favourite autism quotes

Today I decided to pick my 5 favourite autism quotes, and then using Canva to display them in a image. I’m still fairly new to using Canva, but I think I’ve done alright with these.

1.

My top 5 autism quotes

This one is such an important thing to remember, even with children like our Jack & Lily who are able to talk. They still often communicate in other ways, especially on times of distress.

2.

Quote 2

This really is so true, the things I have learned from Jack and Lily are incredible. I have grown as a person so much because of them.

3.

Quote 3

This one is probably my favourite one, and is the way to look at your autistic child’s learning. It might not be the conventional ways that work, but if you work with them they will find ways to learn.

4.

Quote 4

This is a nice one that gives a simple explanation of what autism can be like.

5.

My 5 favourite autism quotes

This is the one that everybody needs to understand. No one autistic person is that same, the spectrum is so wide and varied. Some have additional diagnosis as well, such as learning disabilities and some don’t. Which is why I always say that I’m no expert when it comes to Autism. I only know my 2 children, Jack and Lily’s needs.

They were my 5 favourite autism quotes. Which one is your favourite? Are there any others that I’ve missed, that are your favourite? Leave a comment below and tell me.

Dad Does Autism

Meet the Family

My name is Adam. I live with my partner Natalie, and our 2 children Jack and Lily. Both children are autistic, it is now my mission to show what life around autism is like. Spread the awareness and gain the acceptance that autistic people deserve.

I’ve only heard one of these quotes before:

“If you’ve met one individual with autism, you’ve met one individual with autism.”

But this is my new favorite:

“Just because you can’t understand me, it doesn’t mean I am not communicating.”

    Lovely post, Adam!

Thank you, I think that is possibly the most important quote for people to understand.

I love the quotes and the nice designs you’ve put them in, the “teach” one is probably my favourite.

Lovely quotes, Adam, my favourite is number 4, that’s just beautiful. Number 3 reminds me of a quote along the lines of if you have to keep teaching a child something but they don’t get it, it’s not the child who’s at fault. Nice job on Canva too! 🙂 Lisa

Thank you, sadly the teaching one sometimes has to be argued with schools, though the schools Jack & Lily are at now have been very good. I’m trying to grasp Canva 😂

As someone with no experience with autism, these quotes definitely paint a better picture for me! Also, fab job with Canva! I love Canva and use it daily and for a first go, these are great!

Thank you,I’m always hoping that is what I’m doing for people with no experience of autism. I’m learning Canva, I’ve done some nice ones for Pinterest, but design has never been my strong point.

These quotes are absolutely great! I love the third one though, about teaching them the way they learn, that’s a really important message I think. Thank you for sharing

I do not think I can pick a favorite from among these, but I connected most with the piece on teaching in a way they can learn! Each quote is especially beautiful and eye-opening in its own way. 🙂

Cheers mate, I really hope I can give a sense of what autism is like day to day, rather than the sensationalised stories people will see in the media.

Great quotes, number three was especially meaningful to me due to my dyslexia as no one ever teaches in a way that I can learn, and it takes a lot of time and effort to teach myself

Yeah, the lack of any will to try and teach people a way they can understand that is outside of the norm, is something I find really disappointing.

I love all of these quotes, they are all so true. I completely agree with the “they catch what you miss” quote, my friends two little boys see they beauty in so many things that a lot of us ignore.

I LOVE the one about teaching! I teach a private music class with our local community marching band, my students are generally in the grade 5-8 age bracket. Over the last couple of years, I’ve had a total of 4 children come through my class that are on the spectrum and they challenged my way of teaching. Not because they are ‘challenging’, but because they pushed me out of my comfort zone in order to find ways to teach that would resonate with them and allow them to learn. I don’t know who actually learned more during that process, them or me…

Thank you for sharing that, that’s exactly what we need from people who are teaching kids on the spectrum, it makes me so happy when people realise and put the work in like you did 😊
